I had spent the first 7 months of my pregnancy in the US and was considering staying there to give birth to my baby as I knew a water birth was not practiced in Ecuador. Thankfully that changed when I learned that a midwife from the U.S had recently moved to Vilcabamba. And not only that, she had opened a FREE BIRTH CLINIC!. New Life gave me hope and was the answer to my prayers. We had planned a water birth in Vilcabamba, only that my baby decided to be born 18 days early while I was in Loja. It all happened so fast that I had no time to travel back to Vilcabamba. There was just enough time for the team to come to us and they were all amazing! So accommodating, supportive, loving and understanding. When in a crucial moment of my child's birth, I was about to give up, they all knew what to say and what to do. The midwife remained so calm and her energy and direction helped me get through it. She was a pivotal part of this whole process. I would have not been able to have the type of birth that I wanted for my baby if she had not moved to Ecuador. We are all so blessed to have her be part of our community and I am forever grateful to her and her team.

I was with New Life through my entire pregnancy at their facility in Ecuador. My whole experience with them was great, my questions were always answered and I felt supported every step of the way. My labor was an amazing experience. They showed up ready to guide me through every stage, but also giving me the space when I needed it which made me feel at ease and ready for the journey of labor! I did require quite a few stitches after the birth and it was tended to quickly and efficiently. They have also made sure that the postpartum period has been as smooth as possible checking in and making sure my baby and I were healthy and had what we needed. The whole journey for me was never stressful and I felt calm in very capable hands. Now I have a beautiful healthy baby boy! I am happy and so grateful I got to go through New Life for my pregnancy and birth. Thank you to everyone involved!

I am so thankful I have found New Life birth center! After a hospital birth of our first baby, I was looking for other options for our second pregnancy, looking for someone who would support a natural physiological birth. The midwives are so professional and treat everyone with respect. I felt well informed from the very beginning and all my questions were answered patiently during the whole time I was cared for at the center. I really appreciated that I was able to ask questions by messages and be in contact with my midwife. Unfortunately my pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, but I felt supported during the process. I was never pushed, manipulated or shamed into making a decision, my choices were respected and all of my questions answered. The midwives went above and beyond to really serve me and my specific needs as a whole person, always willing to explain and answer, providing support, listening, sympathizing, taking the time to be there for me and my family. I felt like I had a team and a friend on my side to go through everything that comes up during pregnancy.

I came to Ecuador as a pregnant refugee, upon my arrival I was brought to New Life for prenatal care by a friend. The women at New Life were very kind, they gave me food weekly as we didn't have much money or food and found ourselves in new country without any friends or family.
During my labor they were the support that got me through, they told me I could keep going when I wanted to give up. I felt very supported and more importantly loved. After the baby was born they continued to bring me food and came to check on the baby and I several times a week. They genuinely care for the mothers and babies that have the privilege of receiving care from them. Even after 6 weeks they continued to provide me with support and care.
New Life has made my journey into motherhood a enjoyable one. If you want to feel supported, loved and given excellent care then look no further.

When David and I decided we were ready to start trying for baby #2 we had just met Morgan, who had moved to Vilcabamba only months prior. What a stroke of luck, we thought! From our first meeting, we liked her. She exudes confidence, patience, and knowledge. And it just so happened by the time I became pregnant a dear friend of ours, Meg, had already been studying and attending births with Morgan. Another sign! Our daughter absolutely adores Meg and to have her on our birth team was so special for us all! The stars were aligning - it was meant to be.
When I first started seeing Morgan for appointments, the ‘clinic’ was set up in her home. Once the New Life Birthing Center was set up in town we would see her and Meg there. The New Life office is clean and comfortable with the ‘birthing’ room next door to the office.
I loved that we had options. We knew we wanted a home birth as we had with our first child, but had the opportunity to use the (free) New Life Birthing Center if wanted/needed. Morgan also had a growing relationship with the local hospital’s maternity ward, so we felt even more comfortable in case of an emergency.
The prenatal care I received was phenomenal. I always felt they respected my wishes and listened without judgement. Never did I feel I rushed or talked into doing something in which I wasn’t comfortable. I actually looked forward to my appointments. It was like hanging out with good friends more than a status update. My daughter was also learning about what was happening in my body with the baby and what she could expect to see during a birth - through illustrations, real life photos, and plush dolls/organs.
During (and immediately after) the birth there were some concerning and uncomfortable moments, Morgan never appeared to be anxious or unhinged. She just continued with calm confidence. She knew when to push me a little harder, but always in a nurturing way. She was always very patient and never tried to rush anything. Meg also played a crucial role, not only as Morgan’s assistant, but as a trusted friend to our daughter, who was present during the birth. Meg was available for questions or concerns from her, something I knew we probably wouldn’t be able to do. This was such a priceless gift! They were a powerful team for us - and we can’t thank them enough!
The post-natal care was wonderful too! Even many months later after developing mastitis, Morgan was available with herbs, oils, and advise to help me through it.
From our experience, I would highly recommend working with New Life Birthing Center.

For many years I have had pain on my right side, a friend of mine told me about New Life. She told me it was free and that the staff were nice and would listen to my problems. So I went to New Life, they did a ultrasound and told me I had cysts on my right ovary. They gave me hormone balancing tincture for free and told me to return in 1 month. It has been 3 weeks on the tincture and the pain is completely gone. I am so happy, many times I went to the local hospital and all they did was give me pain pills and say I was fine. The women that work at New Life care about me and my health.
My experience with New Life and their midwives has been a wonderful one that has changed how I feel about Christians. I went to the clinic when I was 20 weeks pregnant, I saw Morgan throughout the rest of my pregnancy. She was very supportive and encouraging. Several times she went the extra mile for me and acted as a true friend. I can tell she truly cared for me and my baby. Before meeting her, Christians always rubbed me the wrong way, my whole life all I met were hypocritical and greedy Christians that pushed me away from God. But my experience with New Life has changed my outlook. I know for certain that God put Morgan and New Life into my life so my baby and I could be loved and cared for in a way I have never experienced before.
My experience at New Life was amazing! I went in to get my IUD removed, and was treated with so much care. The removal process was easy, and I was given a hormone-regulating herbal tea blend as a surprise bonus. Morgan even inspected an infected cut I had, and gave me a blend of healing oils to take home (which worked wonders!)
As an additional surprise, I was offered a chiropractic adjustment in their neighboring space by Patrick. For the first time in years, my body feels balanced and aligned. I had no idea that a quick spontaneous adjustment could make such a huge difference.
I feel so lucky to have had access to New Life. They are a very kind and generous, and are providing an incredible service to Vilcabamba. My experience left me feeling empowered and grateful. My hope for our planet’s future is that everyone can have access to gentle, thoughtful, and holistic practices like those of New Life. Thank you!
I am so glad and grateful I had the midwives at New Life as my care providers. The head midwife is very easy to talk to and great at answering my questions. She can be very funny and lighthearted, but serious when necessary. The staff has been so available and generous, as a friend would be. Its clear the midwives are very dedicated and passionate about their work. The assistants are very sweet and pleasant to talk to. They have made the many appointments enjoyable.
